THE DUET: Starring Gabby and Julia
One thing's for sure, when you're in Montauk during the summer, and you're staying at Atlantic Bluffs, you're guaranteed to make a lot of friends. If Gabby were here to type this, she'd agree and then she'd tell you about Michaela (not sure if I spelled her name correctly - sorry!) and her little sister Julia. I think Gabby, Michaela, and Julia must have spent about 4 to 5 hours a day in the pool together at least! Gabby and Michaela are the same age, and in the same grade, so they had lots to talk about and lots in common. One evening toward the end of the week, after the sun went down the girls got together on the deck and decided to sing a little song...here it is on video. Next year I suggest many hours in the pool, and perhaps a little karaoke, too!

Turtle Beach Surfers
At the base of the cliffs of Montauk Point is Turtle Beach Reservation - where perfectly lazy rolling waves roll west from the point, providing ideal easy waves to surf on long boards or short. One guy coming up from the beach was accompanied by three, 4-legged friends, two of which were wearing life vests - does a dog hang ten or hang eight? Anyone?
To the top of Montauk Lighthouse
After surveying the beautiful scenery outside, we ventured inside to learn a little bit about the history of the Lighthouse. It was erected in the late 1700s with permission of none other than our nation's first President, George Washington. The museum was very interesting, giving details about the evolution of the light, about the evolution of the country, about the invention of the Fresnel lens - the special lens that channels the light rays up to 22 miles away - and much more. A winding, narrow metal staircase leads to the top of the 10-story brick and cinderblock structure. You can peek out two windows along the way. Once at the top, you're rewarded with breathtaking, panoramic views of the point, but hold on tight in the gusty winds as you step outside. Legend has it that the house is haunted by Abigail, daughter to one of the original keepers of the light. She fell in love...her father frowned upon her relationship with the young man...the young man mysteriously disappeared one night never to be seen again. Was he buried in the Lighthouse walls? Is that what Abigail is looking for each night she walks the winding staircase to the top? To be continued...
To THE END
We fuel up at Mr. John's Pancake house a place in the town. It was also a place were I waited what felt like 2 hours for sausage links and Home fries..I though if I didn't get my food soon I'd yell "WERE IS MY HOME FRIES AND SAUSAGE LINKS!!" But it came. There was one funny thing about that place-the fake swordfish head on the wall with a Ken doll in its mouth.HHAHAHAHAAH!! Fueled up and ready to go we drove 3-6 miles to the Lighthouse. As we walked up the hill on the path up to the lighthouse we admired its height while dad was focused on the surfers and amazing cliffs my head was up staring at the top of the lighthouse were I was soon going to be.
